    Sigmatel audio
    « on: March 15, 2008, 04:22:20 PM »
For some reason I am getting no sound at all from my computer.

I'm getting errors in windows media player

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

I went to check the driver it said it was working correctly so i tried updating it and still nothing.

I then tried rollback and the computer crashed. when i rebooted an error message on a blue background came up telling me to press F8 on reboot again, if this shows up.(not really sure what error message number it was and it doesn't do it anymore)

I tried the internet for a different driver and found IDT High defintion Audio CODEC

after install (on the device manager) there is a yellow bubble with a ! on it

    and now shows as :

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

    on the status

however when I use my logictech headset sound works normally

Any help would be much appreciated

Right click my computer, go to properties, click the hardware tab, click the device manger button, see if there is anything with a yellow question mark over it in Sounds, video an game controllers
Windows 7 RC Tester.  Working on it.  Your monitor says etchasketch on the side!

No need to back it up.  When Windoze reboots it will see the card and load a driver for it.

One other thought.  Go into Safe Mode / Device Manager and see how many graphics cards are listed there.  Delete anything in there and reboot.

It looks like your Video an Network drivers aren't installed ether.  Have you tried restoring back futher then near the time it chrashed?  Like three days before or so?

The drivers you need will be on the Driver CD that shipped with the computer.
