XP reinstall
« on: January 26, 2005, 03:44:21 PM »
I had a system failure because of a virus I couldn't remove.  I reinstalled XP but now have 2 copies on the hard-drive one of which doesn't work.  I tried to run the repair, but since my original CD only had SP1 and I had also installed SP2 it won't let me run repair.  The disk loads the drivers,  and I get a C:\windows> and don't know what to do then.  Help please.

aglen.....Perhaps you should consider doing a clean install , and then you wouldnt have these issues ......
Here's how to do it ...

Note ......after doing the clean install ......before going online to get any window updates or SP2 ( if you dont have a cd with it on )  Please , please reinstall your anti-virus software ......then go online and get the latest virus updates and then and only then go to MS update page ........

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.
