Computer will not respond

"DUMMIE", me, wanted to see how the processor looked. I took it out and then immediately put it back in. Now it will only boot to show the Compaq red letter screen, also blinking cursor at the top right of the screen. This is my grown daughters computer. I need help, PLEASE!!!!???
It is a Compaq Presario 5008US, 800Mhz, 256 ramm, running WindowsME.

Did you remember to ground the electricity from your body BEFORE touching any system components?

Have you contacted Compaq? Also, the video card.... Try applying a LITTLE bit of pressure on it to be sure that it is "clipped" in properly...
