I am experiencing a `white screen` during usage, which has no options available other than to pull the plug and start again. Can anyone help please? This happens using Firefox, but not so far with IE. Would iot be cnnected to this?

        Hi Dahlarbear,

The version is 2.0.0.14. I have now got `Firefox` on `safe mode` as when starting normally, I have a screen which says `Thankyou for downloading Google Toolbar`. I didn`t download anything to do with Google, and didn`t ask for anything! It`s just appeared! I can`t close it, accept it or do anything with it!, except switch to another Browser. I have three browsers, namely Firefox, Netscape and IE. The IE one often says `programme not responding,` which is why I downloaded the other two. I`ve tried a `system restore` but it says it isn`t possible, having tried for a date two weeks ago, one week ago, and two days ago. Have I caused this problem trying to run 3 browsers?  As you can probably tell, I`m not at the `beginner` stage yet, let alone competent!

In Control Panel /Add/Remove Programs see if the toolbar is listed if so remove it from there.
Quite a few companies are bundling toolbars with their software without telling you which i think is a shoddy way of picking up some revenue...

          Hi again,

Nothing in Add/Remove mentioned about the Google toolbar, only Google earth which I added about 3 months ago. No other mention of Google anywhere, I don`t even use their search engine.

Is it listed in Firefox under Tools>Add-ons?
When right click on empty space of Firefox header, is it listed there:

            1.  You should be able to install as many browsers as you want.  Running multiple browsers at the same time should also work, assuming you have adequate system resources; e.g. physical memory, virtual memory, CPU cycles.

Not sure about the "white" screen, but should be able to eliminate the "Thank you for downloading Google Toolbar" dialog box and see if that helps.

            2.  Complete Google Toolbar Installation.

I have now got `Firefox` on `safe mode` as when starting normally, I have a screen which says `Thankyou for downloading Google Toolbar`. I didn`t download anything to do with Google, and didn`t ask for anything! It`s just appeared! I can`t close it, accept it or do anything with it!,

The "Thank you for downloading Google Toolbar" keeps appearing because you never finished the installation of the Google Toolbar.  Whether you asked for it or not is not relevent at this point.

o  Restart Firefox in "normal" mode.
o  When you see that dialog box again, look for a red rectangular border towards the bottom.
o  Within that area select either "Enable Page Rank" or "Disable Page Rank" (I would choose "Disable Page Rank" for privacy reasons).
o  The "Finish" button located at bottom right should become active.
                o  Depress the Finish button.

I believe it asks to restart Firefox to complete the installation.  Choose "yes" or exit Firefox normally and restart it.  The Google Toolbar is installed.

            3.  Verify Google Toolbar Installation.

After Firefox has successfully restarted in "normal" mode:
o  From the main menu at top of Firefox window, left click on "Tools"
o  Within the Tools pulldown menu, left click on "Add-ons" item, the "Add-ons" windows will appear.
o  At top left of this window, left click on "Extensions" icon, your installed extensions should appear in lower pane.
o  There should be a "Google Toolbar" entry.

            4.  Uninstall Google Toolbar.  From the Add-on window accessed above:

o  Right click on Google Toolbar entry, a context menu should appear.
o  Left click on the "Uninstall" entry to uninstall Google Toolbar.

I believe it asks to restart Firefox to complete the uninstall.  Choose "yes" or exit Firefox normally and restart it.  The Google Toolbar should be gone.

              Hi dahlarbear

Thanks for that, Google is now no more! Thanks for all your typing etc.

Still got the White Screen thing though!

                Hi broni

Although I have got rid of the screen by using dahlarbears instructions, the Google toolbar is still mentioned as you said, although not ticked `on`. Can`t see why it`s `gone` but still there!

                  Hi Broni

Thanks a million !! It was still there under `add ons` but I right-clicked to uninstall it, and was pleased to see` when you restart Firefox it will be gone` But when I re-started I was offered `resume` or `start new session`. naturally I clicked resume thinking I was saving time, but it was still there. So I managed to think myself thru the `start new session` bit, and did it again, and now it`s gone!!!!

Just left with the original White Screen thing now, although I`ve uninstalled Internet Explorer, thinking it was that, having only installed it last week, but it`s made no difference.

Incidentally, I`ve now got no options to `restore to an earlier date`, all dates stating `not available`, even yesterday!

Are these separate and I`m getting my share all at once or do you think they`re all one problem?

                  You're welcome :)
You're getting white screen where? In Firefox? Windows?
How did you uninstall IE? Was it version 7?

                    Hi Broni,
The problem is while using Firefox. I didn`t think it was occurring while using Explorer, but then it`s done it twice again today while using IE. Yes version 7. I uninstalled it from Programmes, right clicked and uninstalled.  Then I went everywhere I could think of and uninstalled it whenever I could.

So the problem is still there, and it`s driving me nuts!!

When you go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox>Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode), and start Firefox this way....still getting blank pages?

                      Hi again Broni,

No, when it`s started this way, I haven`t had any blank white screens.
