    desktop icons have been disappered

    i dont know how all this happned. i have tried to fix this from cutomize desktop option but couldn't get seccess.

    anybody would help?

          Well  Can you open task manager with ctrl-alt-delete? If so:  In Task Manager, click the Applications tab and choose New Task, type in "explorer.exe" and click OK.  Can you see icons now?

                well..i did a change in explorer.exe file  to make changes in the  text displayed on the start button at talkbar.  i have done this using a software that could open the explorer file but the text start still not been changed.
                i am sorry because i am not sure that wheather this issue started before or after  the explorer.exe file edited.
                what all i did is,

                1 opened explorer.exe using restHacker software
                2 expanded string   and then string table then 38 then 1033
                3 changed text start to Innocent.
                4 file->save as->explorerinnocent.exe
                5 opened registry editor
                6 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->software->microsoft->windows NT->current virsion
                7  then made a string named shell and assined value explorerinnocent.exe to it.

                all this procedure is explaned over a site.

                Try this: right click on an empty part of your desktop and move the cursor over the "Arrange Icons By" category. You will se another box that has the option- "Show Desktop Icons". make sure that there is a check mark to the left of this.
