      I have the same problem.

I have a Dell Windows XP with over 40 Gigs of free space
Whenever i put Spore into either drives the computer responds as if it were a blank disc.  It even asks if I want to burn a file onto it.

Ok i just found the answer to this problem myself

for now i will just guess and say that all the requirements on the back of the box are all met (CPU, RAM, Hard drive space, and video cards)

You can still get and install the game but you will have to do so by download bacause on the front it says the disc is a DVD-rom which means that it wont work on a CD-drive like you most likely have.

Downloading Spore is illegal, just remember that.

You will need to purchase a DVD Drive. Otherwise we cannot help you.

It depends where he lives...In most countries it is legal to donload what you have a legal copy of...for instance if he had a enGB version of the Spore disk...he could legally download a enGB ISO. as long as he does not distribute it of course.

Downloading the game is illegal. Period.
It doesn't matter if you have the real game or not.

lol @ it depends where he lives.

It's illegal wherever you live. It's just a lot harder to enforce action in some countries.

Additionally- was any attempt made to call the developer of the product? Probably not.

Well I just had an idea...

You can legaly make one backup copy for YOURSELF, right?

Well, why not take it to a friends house, use a CD copy program, note that this will NOT defeat the security on the disk, but will only copy the sectors of the disk containing the install files, so it will then let you be able to install it, using the backup, however....You should still need the CD to play it...Or if it is activated on steam you will have to log in each time.

you used to be able to. But now you can't. (depending entirely on ones location) And most Protection involves physical changes to the master stamped disc that simply cannot be replicated properly by a burner.

If we keep exploring options in this direction it's bound to get the topic locked.

Actually, I'm going to lock this anyways.

There is nothing more to discuss here other than it is illegal to download or make copies of a copyrighted game.

Chargurl, if you ever do come back and you want this topic unlocked, PM me.
