I have a AMD 64 3000+ Compaq notebook and I just downloaded the free evaluation version of the 64-bit windows operating platform. I was wondering if anybody knew whether when I install an entirely new operating system, I will lose all my settings, programs, and files. The reason I need to know is because I am taking an online/PC class that I am only allowed to install once on a single computer, and so if installing this OS would wipe that out, I would have to pay $100 for the software again.
