itunes doesn't realize it's connected to the internet

I am trying to restore my ipod, but get an error message that says that I am not connected to the internet. I obviously am, and itunes even downloads podcasts normally. I recently had to reformat my hard drive; don't know if that is pertinent or not.  I am using a hard wired cable modem. Any help appreciated.

Do you have any type of firewall program running on the computer. Maybe it's possible it's blocking it from getting onto the Internet.

I assume since you're posting in the Apple forum that you're using a Mac, but you haven't provided any information about what operating system you're on.

For all we know, you could be on windows.
