sometimes web pages freeze up and task mgr shows double

sometimes a page will lock up and I cant do anything, when I open task mgr it will show 2 instances of that page being open ( and both not responding) even tho I only have actually ONE page open.
It does not matter which website im visiting, it happens randomly.
Did virus scans and nothing  turned up.
Any help?

We need more information, Please look here.

Go to the Processes Tab in Task Manager.
Any process taking up a lot of resources?
In the Performance Tab, how much Page File Usage is being used?
Also, how much RAM do you have?

Well not that I know of.  of course nothing has froze on me yet.......
I did check it when it did happen and nothing stood out.
Here is what it currently shows.

Oh yea sorry. Widows XP, sp2, 2 gigs ram. x2 5000 AMD chip

I moved this to the Microsoft Windows Board.

I also edited my post after I posted. Can you have a look at it again please

page file usage = 538mb
2gb ram

Lets try this:

Download and install CCleaner.
When you start the program, you can uncheck whatever you want EXCEPT System --> Temporary Files and Internet Explorer (you can keep History and Form History unchecked)
After that, run the Registry Sweep a few times (scan and remove entries a few times)

Then go to RUN --> msconfig and press Enter.
Head over to the Startup tab and uncheck what ever you don't need.
(Note: unchecking a program doesn't mean you cannot start it again)

Restart the computer and post back.

Thanks.  Well I did all the above and I guess now I just have to "surf and wait".
What should I do or look for the next time this happens(if it does happen)?

Its getting on close to 1Am here on the east coast, so Ill be getting to bed soon.

I had a look on Google and it seems the main cause of this is due to Malware.
I would have a look here:

Hopefully your computer isn't infected but one can never be too careful.
