How do I install win98se OR winXP? PLease help!

Could someone please help me.
I have a computer that was working fine(win98), until I decided to clean up the files. I screwed it up.
I have a win98 boot up floppy, a win98se cd, and a winxp cd. Can I install either of these on the computer?If so, how to I go about doing it? Sorry if this seems vague but I do not know all the lingo.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 TamS......I'm just guessing but it sounds like you have the full version of win 98SE and the Win XP update cd ....
If thats the way it is , you will have to install the win98SE first and then install the Win XP update CD ......

And this one is for XP... http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000647.htm ... Of course, this may vary depending on if you are using the XP upgrade disk, or the full version...
