Memory stick
« on: August 27, 2008, 07:52:52 PM »
I regularly use a 2gb memory stick and quite a few times I have downloaded Security programs and transfer these programs to a unprotected computer. Almost everytime, the installation fails because the files are corrupted. I usually have to transfer them using a CD-RW. Does all memory sticks do this?

I've never had a problem installing a program from flash drive - done it many times.

If you don't have time to do it right
...when will you have time to do it over?

I've never had any problems moving files with a flash drive or my external HDD.

Are these older computers that you are trying to transfer the programs to?

Sometimes USB 2.0 will not work well with USB 1.1 ports.

Does your CD method work though?

If memory sticks corrupt their data or are unreliable, they wouldn't be so popular.
(In fact, it's the same technology in all hand held devices.)

That's probably the problem. Whenever I plug in the stick, I get this message that the USB connection could run faster if I click on the bubble. When I do that, it says that they're running at max speed. I usually just use it when I want to add some protection programs without going on-line. I just download the program directly to the stick. If I burn the programs to a CD-RW, I have no problem. Thanks. Now I know the answer.

Curious.... You're not installing the antivirus to the USB, are you? You're supposed to move the setup.exe file.
