My ''e drive'' has suddenly disappeared
    « on: August 29, 2008, 04:46:56 AM »
My e drive has vanished from my computer.  It was there one day, but now it's just gone.  I can't seem to get my computer to acknowledge its existence.  Can anyone help my get my computer to know what it has on it -- again?

OS: Windows vista home premium, sp1

      This is incorrect.

      Try one of these:
      1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
      or...
      2. http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
      or...
      3. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
      You'll see two items:
      - ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
      - ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.

I have tried the technique given in response to my original post and it now seems to be working.  I would like to thank whomever sent me the response in taking the time to have helped me in this matter.  I sure do appreciate it.

        Glad you got it working.

        What exactly did you do?
        The above advice?

I started with step 2 and proceeded with 3 :).  And it still is working.  I could get used to this.

Odd that someone would ignore MS ;D
If you don't have time to do it right
...when will you have time to do it over?

My E drive vanished after connecting a camera to a USB port(??Q!)

Broni, many thanks for that but i have only one ATA Channel ('0'), which i uninstalled then rebooted (and thus reinstalled) but the E drive is still missing. Any further advice you can offer?

                Cheers,

                Greg
