So the problem started when you the wireless router?
      What did you have before?
What happens when you use an Internet cable and connect it to the computer (not wireless)

I tried hooking up directly to the internet and still have the problem.  It started the other day and I hooked up the wireless about 2 weeks ago.  I noticed it when I went to play games online.  Any suggestions?

I am sorry for not explaining the problem.  I cannot play games that need java to run also yahoo mail now needs java to get into the options.  It has boggled my mind of what happened.  I have even tried to restore the computer back to a past date.

Try Firefox, and see, if same thing happens.

The same thing happens.  Now the computer is not allowing pop ups within internet explorer or firefox.  I uninstalled and reinstalled java again and that didn't help.

                I'd try couple of things...
                1. Go Start>Run, type in:
                sfc /scannow
                Click OK.
                Have Windows CD handy.

                If the above doesn't help....

                2. Run Windows repair: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

BTW, how is your computer security?
Before, you start with step 1, and 2, I'd like to take a look at your computer...
                Download HijackThis:
                http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download
                Click on Download HijackThis Installer
                Post HijackTHis log.

I don't see anything dangerous, BUT, you're running TWO security suites: CA, and Norton, and this is big NO-NO.
One of them has to go.
Let me know, which one, and I'll tell you what to do.

                    Good choice...
                    Use this: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
When done, restart computer, and post fresh HJT log.

Since you're having some other problems, as well, like Windows updates, I think, you need to go back to my post #13.

I bought it at best buy 2 1/2 years ago.  They told me that everything for the computer is in the hard drive.  I don't know where I have to look for the installation files.  If you could please help with this it would be great.  Thank you in advance.

Does your hard drive have a recovery partition, a small partition that contains Windows?  It should have, as indicated by "They told me that everything for the computer is in the hard drive."

You should be able to create, i.e. burn, your own recovery CD from that partition.  For info on that, see page 137 of http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/8511279_eM_NG3_chassis_HW_ref_en.pdf

Or, go to http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T6420 and click the button near the bottom of the page for Chat with Tech Support.

Long shot maybe but with no CD this is worth a try.

                                Next:

                                Download JavaRa
                                • Unzip the file and open the JavaRa.exe
                                • Click Remove Older Versions
                                • JavaRa will search for and remove any outdated version of Java and remove any that are found.
                                • Click Additional Tasks
                                • Place a check next to Remove Useless JRE Files and click Go
                                • Exit JavaRa
                                • Delete the JavaRa files from the Desktop
                                .
                                -----------

Download Dial-a-Fix by djlizard, save it to the desktop then extract it to it's own folder.
                                • Open the folder and run Dial-a-fix.exe
                                • 2 windows will open. Close the one in the background labeled Restrictive Policies
                                • Check the box in section 1, Empty temp folders.
                                • Check the box in section 2, Fix Windows Installer.
                                • Check the box in section 4, labeled SSL/HTTPS/Cryptography. The 4 boxes under it should be pre-checked
                                • Check all boxes in Section 5, labeled Registration Center.
                                • Click Go
                                • OK any error messages if received, but write them down and post them here.
                                • Restart the computer when done.
                                .
                                Open Dial a fix again.

Open Dial-a-fix and click the hammer icon. Select Flush DNS and click Go
When complete, select Repair Permissions and click Go

                                Any changes?

I used the dial-a-fix and java removal.  It still didn't help.  Should I possibly try to repair or reinstall IE7?  Do I have to download Java again?

Try to reinstall IE7. Might work.

Check add/remove programs to see if Java is still installed or not.

Java is still installed on the computer.  Also how do I reinstall IE7.  I went to add/remove programs and cannot find IE7 there.

                                    • Note: If you are unable to see IE7 in Add or Remove Programs follow these steps:
                                    • Click Start
                                    • Click Run
                                    • Type or copy and paste, into the text box:
                                    • %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe
                                    • Then Press Enter
                                    • Restart your computer.
                                      • Install the fresh version of Internet Explorer 7.

I uninstalled and reinstalled IE7.  I still am having the same problems.  Is there a way to repair IE?

                                      Two methods.

Do you have an XP CD?

If so, place it in your CD ROM drive and follow the instructions below:
                                      • Click on Start > Run and type sfc /scannow then press Enter (note the space between scf and /scannow)
                                        • Let this run undisturbed until the window with the blue  progress bar goes away
SFC - Which stands for System File Checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

                                      ----------

                                      http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Note: A Repair Install will replace the system files with the files on the XP CD used for the Repair Install. It will leave your applications and settings intact, but Windows updates will need to be reapplied.

A Repair Install will replace files altered by adware and malware, but will not fix an adware, malware problem.

I do not have a windows xp cd.  I didn't get one with the computer.  I talked to emachines and they said that the recovery part is on the hard drive.

Correct me if I'm wrong.....but doesn't the recovery partition bring the computer back to its first-turn-on state?

yes it does.  I tried to recover it the other day with the recovery disks that I made.  It didn't work.  It kept starting over and saying that there was an error.

I don't think that is what you want to do.

With Repair Install, it will only repair the Operating System, not revert it to its first-born state.

I don't know what else to do because I don't have any discs to repair the installation.

No you will need a Media Center CD if that's what is installed...
I'd start asking everyone or you're looking at a new install to get out of this dilemna...
