PC has continous beeping on start up with new hardware.
    « on: September 11, 2008, 05:14:05 PM »
My computer's motherboard was going bad. I then bought a new mother board. About 2 hours after I installed the new motherboard I  restarted the
computer. On Boot up I get long continous beeping that doesnt stop.
There's also no screen on the monitor. So I then bought a video card.
Still the same problem. Then I read and was also told it was my ram.
Still the same problem. I tryed another power supply. Still same problem.

    Here's what I bought New.

    AMD Socket 462 Processor Motherboard
    VIA KT600 + VIA 8237
    Revision 3.0
    P / N: G03 -V600DA

    AMV - 2 - PC 2700 - LOW DENSITY 512MB - 333MHz Ram

    ATI Radeon 9700 Video Card.

The Prossser thats in this new mother board is a

    AMD 2100+ 1.67Ghz - 462 - Socket

The Power supply im using is a DURO 400W Max.

Please Any Help Would Be Nice. I have been messing around with this
    for over a month.

    Voorhees.

Might be a short . Do a out of case install, 1 stick of ram, cpu with heat sink & fan video hooked up to monitor, keyboard& mouse, short the power pins [2] to power up you should get a display on monitor

Short the power pins [2] What do you mean?

Also everything seems to power on. The fans work. I can hear the hard drive boot up. The Video card is new. It has a fan built into it that works.
I Hooked up What you said out side of the tower and still the same long
      continous beeping sound.

      Hmmmm..

Remove and reseat every thing one at a time, the beeping maybe the result of a ram card etc.

TRY TO REFRESH YOUR BIOS & MOTHERBOARD
        1. remove all your devices,,, prossessor, ram, dvd rom, hdd, and other devices...
        2. reset or remove your cmos batt for about 5 to 10 sec..
        3. return the cmos batt.
        4. return the prossesor, ram & the video card
        5. switch on and thats it...
              it  seems to be normal....
now you can return all your devices.... tnx..

I don't suggest you remove the Processor, or anything else for that matter.

Just Unplug the device, and then replug it right away.
(make sure all non-essentials like Flash Drives are removed)

Also, remove the CMOS Battery for a few minutes before putting it back in.

        Don't remove the Processor.

I am running out of options. I unplugged everything except the processor.
I took the batt out for 10 Min's or so. Unplugged the fans. Took out the ram stick, unplugged the power & the hard drive. I reseated everything.
Still the same problem.  I also noticed that the yellow light that's in front of the tower is not on when its turned on. whats that mean? I have 4 sticks of
ram. 2 of them are brand new. I'm ready to throw this thing out the window. Iv'e tryed seating the ram in diffrent slots too. Just one stick.

Ive done all this stuff out side of the case & out .Any more ideas before I decide to do so ??? Thank's.

If you have the correct ram installed & when you power up the unit & you get no display your pblm has to be power supply, motherboard or v card. this is assuming your heat sink is properly installed & has thermal grease applied.

Yes! I do have thermal grease. I did alot of reading and research about that. Do you think I need to clean the processor  and apply again. I don't know. I'm out of options. I got the ram that my mother board manual said to get. Here's the manual for my mother board. Type this in yahoo and then click on the very first link.

              "v600da motherboard manual"

              See what you think.

Like I said before. I did have this motherboard working for 2 hours when I first got it 2 months ago. Everything was working great before.

I restarted it  and then after it rebooted that's when the continous beeping had started. & that was before I bought new ram.

Also the video card is brand new. It beeps with it in and out.

              Thanks.

Bio's are- Award 2MBit Flash ROM. I have tryed it with a new/old video card and also with out.

When I did have it working for those 2 hours im just trying to figure out what went wrong after I restarted the pc. Im wondering if the MB is shot even thow it was new.

Im about to say forget it.
