The best RPG of all time...

Well, there's a topic about the scariest game, about the coolest racing game. But there's no topic about the coolest rpg (role playing game). Now I know these games aren't as populair as shooters, racing etc. But if you have any experience with rpg's, which one do you think is the best?

I'd have to say Golden Sun. Not just the game, but also it's sequel, Golden Sun: the Lost Age. I really couldn't decide which of these games was the best because they both kick-*ss! The storyline, the turn-based battling system, some complicated puzzles that require some quality brains and the fact that you need to have both games to complete the series 100%. Now THAT'S a rpg.

The best RPG of all time is Final Fantasy 7.  Hands down.  The storyline is deep, the music really controls the mood of the game, the graphics are decent, the dialogue is interesting to read, and the gameplay is very fun.

Try the witcher enhanced edition. It is one of the best PC rpg games out there right now.

There is no "best" one. It's all up to one's tastes in an RPG. My all-time favorite would have to be Finally Fantasy VI. If we're talking strictly PC games though, Neverwinter Nights.

Best RPG? That's a bit subjective, so the answer's gonna be different for everyone, I think.

As for me, I haven't played most of the Final Fantasy series, but I can say that Final Fantasy X is the first non-MMO RPG that I ever played, and so for the only. I think it's got a fantastic storyline, excellent quality graphics (for a PS2), and a decent combat system. My only problems with it are:

1. I can't get the gosh darn Sun Sigil, it's bloody impossible.
2. That laughing scene in Luca makes me glad I have a Mute function.

RPG stands for "Role Playing Game". In Zelda, you play the Role of Link and it is a game, case closed.

So, when I play Quake 4, I'm roleplaying, since I'm playing the role of Matthew Kane? Of course not, that's a FPS.

I don't know what genre LoZ is, because I haven't played it, but I can say this: An RPG is any game with "stats", "levels", weapons with numbered bonuses on them, things like that.

Yes, you're right Dilbert. And LoZ have that. Stat, weapon, etc, the difference is in the battle mode. If LoZ isn't an RPG, at least it similar to RPG and however I still love it.
