downloaded program disappears/ won't run

whenever i try to download a program or update my computer will download completely then ask me if i want to run the program. i click yes but it dissapears and doesnt run

yes ive tried saving and it doesnt sho up at the location it was supposed to save to
and its for any downloaded program.

Try this.

DownloadRandom's system information tool  by random/random from and save it to your

Desktop.

    * Double click on RSIT.exe to run.
    * Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
    * Once it has finished, two logs will open
    * log.txt <will be maximized and info.txt <will be minimized
    * Please post the contents of both logs in the Here in malware removal forums .

Did you uninstall any programs recently or did you uninstall anything because of a virus problem?

it showed a window saying it was transfering the files but nothing showed up on any drive or on the desktop

i did have norton delete some files because internet explorer kept flashing on and off

no files were saved and norton is giving me error msgs now (unable to open product , restart your computer[8500,108]) i already tried restarting but no luck

nope no zone alarm its a fairly new computer so i havent really been able to secure it very well yet

im downloading eg. skype       http://www.skype.com every thing is through internet explorer

My suggestion would be to get rid of Norton. It is close to useless in my opinion.

There are plenty other free antivirus software that do just as well as paid ones:
AVG,
Avast!,
Antivir
(you should only have one)

First, remove Norton using the Norton Removal Tool:

i do have avg 8.0 but its side by side config is incorect

If you already have AVG, get rid of Norton.

its been acouple of years since i corrected any config problems like that. i dont know where to start on vista. and no icant download other anti-virus.lol

Yeah so where were you expected to get those new anti virus from!!

Either you have deleted some important files in windows (while removing the virus) that were important for downloading things into the computer, in this case we could have got them back if your antivirus was working, but its not !

You will have to uninstall your current Norton products, and then reinstall a new one when the removal is complete.

Did you try downloading in safe mode with networking?

Try that too, lets keep applying Ideas, till I tell you that one last thing I'm avoiding!!

Running Norton and Avg on the same machine is bad. Two antivirus programs can be just as bad, if not worse, than none at all. Uninstall whichever one you like the least (I have heard a lot of bad things about Norton). Make sure you have completley removed it.

i got rid of both norton and avg and i can down load once again.
i think the problem was with avg and its side by side config problems
i was only able to down load after gettin rid of avg and i had re booted

In avast you will get the option to scan on startup when the installation completes, remember don't delete any files it finds infected, or else you will be in a bigger problem, if it finds any infection, just choose repair and if its not able to just come back here tell us about it.

remember do not delete anything.
