MS Office Problem / Corrupt File?
« on: April 26, 2004, 12:20:00 PM »
Help! Microsoft Word will not start up. I get the message, "Not enough memory to open MS Word." All other programs function normally, including Excel, etc.  The problem is limited to MS Word.  Uninstall/Reinstall has no effect. "Repair Office" has no effect. Pentium 4, 2.4Ghz; 512 meg RAM. Can you help?

Further research has led me to a solution for my own problem.

The corrupt file was a WORD Template called "NORMAL".  Word searches for this file at startup.

Renaming or deleting the NORMAL Template causes WORD to create a new one that is not corrupt, and WORD is working normally once again.
