Graphics are loading slowly in both IE and Firefox

A few days ago I started having some page loading issues in both IE 6 and Firefox 3.03. Pages that have lots of graphical elements are taking a long time to load. It only seems to be happening on my Dell Dimension 310 that has an ethernet cable connection to my wireless router. The other 2 computers in my house have wireless connections and I am not having this problem on either of them. I don't think the problem is with the router because I tried bypassing the router and connected my PC directly to my cable modem and still had the problem.

My PC has 1G of RAM and is running XP Media Edition with SP3. I ran my AVG Virus Scan and found no viruses. I cleaned out the cache and cookies from both IE and Firefox. I defragged my hard drive and ran chkdsk for error checking. I also have ZoneAlarm installed as my firewall. I tried disabling it to see id that would help. It didn't.

I tried doing a system restore to a date before I started having this issue with no resulting improvement in performance.

I also ran RegCure and found I had quite a number of registry errors. I'd have to buy the full version in order to fix them which I would gladly do if I had some assurance it would fix my browser issue.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Second, Don't Buy Regcure
I don't see any reason to.

My suggestion would be to Download and Install
CCleaner.

When it is installed, run it and make sure the following checkboxes are checked.
Internet Explorer --> Temporary Files
Internet Explorer --> Cookies
Mozilla Firefox --> Internet Cache
Mozilla Firefox --> Cookies
System --> Temporary Files
System --> Empty Recycling Bin (optional but recommended if low on disk space)
You can check whatever else you want but you should know that whatever you check will be unrecoverable.
When you are done, Run the Cleaner.

Now head over to the Registry section in CCleaner.
Click Scan for Issues a few times and then Fix Selected Issues.
Repeat this one or two times.
CCleaner will prompt you to back up the registry. I suggest you do.

Thanks so much for getting back to me an offering assistance. I downloaded and ran CCleaner as you suggested including scanning and repairing the registry several times. It's clean now. While I have noticed some overall PC performance improvement I'm still having the slow loading issue. It's especially telling when trying to access Google Maps. Before I started having this issue the maps would load quickly and seamlessly and changing the zoom level also happened quickly. Now it takes considerably longer and the maps seem to load in sections.

Anything else I might try?

Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Same thing?

There is nothing malicious there, but I can see, you're running infamous Dell Support Center (lot of problems). I suggest, you uninstall it altogether.

Thanks. I will uninstall The Dell Support Center. When I went to the Add or Remove Programs app in Control Panel I noticed that there was an Dell Support Center Update 2.2.08100 installed on my PC on October 1. This is around the time I started having my browser loading issues so maybe this is the culprit. I also see listed are DellConnect and DellSupport programs. Should I uninstall these as well?

DellConect is actually not running as a startup, so you may leave it alone. It allows (if necessary) Dell tech to connect remotely to your computer.
Get rid of DellSupport, though. Uninstall Update, first, and then support, itself.
I recommend, you do it in Safe Mode, since couple of DS services are running in Normal Mode.

I uninstalled DellSupport, re-ran CCleaner, rebooted and everything seems to be fine now. I didn't uninstall it in safe mode because I did it before I got your most recent message. I am getting requests from Zone Alarm that Dell Support is trying to access the Internet but I have denied the request. Should I permanently block the request?

Anyways thank you so much for your help. It does appear that the recent Dell Support update was the problem.
