    Sound Problem - Speakers
    « on: October 13, 2008, 06:30:56 AM »
Hello... I had a sound card problem... I solved it... But now i have some weird issue with my speakers....
My sound is working so are speakers...
But i only hear sound if i plug speakers to the mic jack (the pink one)...
Then I tried to plug mic to the green jack but mic doesn't work...

How do i get it back so that my speakers are plugged to the speakres jack (the green one) so that i can get my mic work too and plug it back to the pink one....

Here is one more thing... In volume control - Options - Properties... In mixer device it says SIS 7012 Wave! But i think it should say SIS 7012 AUDIO not WAVE... But I could be wrong...

Please if anyone knows how to get this work write me back....
    Thank you in advance!

I'm guessing this is a sound card built into the system board.  If you have the driver disc that came with the system board, you might try reloading the sound drivers.

It seems like the sound "card" is providing sound output through what is normally an input device (the microphone plug.)  This makes me think the sound driver is not working correctly.

      Yes... it makes sense...
But the thing is that i spent 2 days on installing my sound driver... cause when i tried to install it from Motherboard CD it failed... The i downloaded it from the site and finally got it installed...
So if it's the sound card problem... I guess i can't fix it?

Start shopping for an add-on PCI sound card...they shouldn't be prohibitively expensive...
When you install it and it's Drivers it will turn off the non-functioning onboard sound chip.

Often if the sound is going through the mic jack it's a good indication that you have the incorrect drivers or drivers installed improperly in the computer and/or it's some other type of driver related issue.

I'd suggest opening device manager, removing the sound card drivers under Sound Video and Game controllers by highlighting each and pressing delete and then once deleted downloading and installing the below SoundMax driver ver 5.12.01.3665 according to the asus motherboard driver page.

        http://support.asus.com/download/download_item.aspx?model=P4S8X-X&type=Drivers&SLanguage=en-us

Once that's been done reboot the computer and that should get you fixed.

I am having sound problems also that is giving me fits. I do not get sound from my speakers but I can get sound from my headset. My mic  works fine. I know that the speakers are good because they were working on my other computer.
