    taskbar buttons

    My XP taskbar shows the same buttons on both sides the left and th right , how to keep them on the left only

    Not sure exactly what you mean.

    What happens if you Right Click the taskbar and uncheck Lock the Taskbar.
    Look for any vertical lines/dots and drag them side to side.

    The right side is the Taskbar...for any programs that are running or launched at Startup.
    The left side is the Quick Launch bar which if there are duplicates you can simply right click the icon and select Delete.
    This does not delete the program or any files just the Quick launch shortcut.
    Any Program can be placed there by creating a shotcut to it and dragging and dropping it there...very handy.
