Firewalls

Not sure if this is correct place move if it isnt

I have two pc's running off a wireless router with no problems except
When downloading with utorrent sometimes the ports are closed making download speeds very slow.
On both computers i have online armor (firewall and avast anti virus).
But when i disable the firewall on the router download speeds are good and the port stays open.
Question ; do i need two firewalls ,is it safe to turn off the firewall on the router without compromising security.

If you do any online banking, eBay, PayPal etc then you need the firewall.

rather then disabling the firewall completely- instead use the routers port forwarding features to forward the ports required by uTorrent.
