Hello,
1) WinDVD periodically (and without warning) runs its own Windows Installer program updater... which refuses to be "canceled" and (if allowed to run) gives an error that the appropriate "WinDVD.msi" file can't be found.
2) Installing WinDVD (admittedly, awhile ago) gave me the "Program Updates" icon in Windows XP Control Panel. As far as I can tell, it doesnt do a thing except run the WinDVD updater. It's a continuous frustration and unnecessary. Is there anyway to remove it? Is it used for anything?
WinDVD is a good program, I think, but a word to anyone before they install it: it has so many "extra" ways of affecting your computer that it seems like it's more of a headache than anything else. Intervideo (manufacturer of WinDVD) and Corel (parent company) provide extremely unreliable support. I've emailed them again today- will post their reply (if I get one).
Thanks.
