    New PSU incompatible with Board

Hello you may remember me from the thread

    http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=68997.0

well anyway I now have a similar problem!

Been given a PC to upgrade and features this motherboard

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00714533&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=3236977

the upgrade comprises of a new rear fan (didn't even turn up thanks ebuye*)

    Antec Truepower PSU

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114930

and a ATI Radeon 4670 GPU

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149199

The problem is similar to the above thread in that the new PSU does not fire up the board, yet it will fire up an older motherboard? The Old PSU still fires up the Board so nothing has been damaged, but it seems like too much of a coincidence that two new PSU's wont fire up Motherboards

The new Power on indicator flashes briefly when I press the PC's power switch but that is all

The PSU runs fine with both a PSU tester and with an old board ???

Boy you have absolutely no luck when it comes to PSU's... ;D

What was wrong with this machine when it was given to you ? ?
Keep in mind customers/friends will not always tell you the full story.

I'd try another PSU in there and see if it at least will POST.
That PSU carries a 5 yr. warranty so in worst case scenario you could return it for a replacement.
I have seen new PSU's dead on arrival a few times myself...

Hi Yeah Got it RMA'd :) this is the second brand new one not to work (it no longer works with the old board either now (convenient considering I need an RMA)

anyway blew up 2 Compaq D510SFF PSU's recently!

This might sound like a stupid question, but have you tried a different power cord? I thought my PSU was dead once and it turned ou to be a short in the cord.
Also hav eyou checked to make sure the PSU is set to the proper voltage? There should be a switch on the back (under the power switch) that changes the voltage from 115 (US) to 230 (the rest of the world). If it came set to 115 and you are outside of the US, then it can fry your PSU.
