printer help
« on: December 05, 2008, 02:11:57 PM »
hi people,

my mums pc is being rubbish - basically the rpinter she has (Lexmark X1270) is taking forever to print, and ends up deyaling the print. Once my mum or brothers get tired of waiting, they reboot the pc. once they reboot, the print job prints off. Plus another thing i've noticed just by looking at it, is that within the Vista printer select window (control panel - printers), there are 2 copies of the same printer there, both with idle jobs on!

firstly, how do i make the printer print when it should do without having to reboot every time i want to print, and then how do i get rid of the copied printer within the control panel?

help!

cheers peeps

?, you don't have to re-boot at all anyway?
the printer and the pc, are 2 different things, therefore does not require you to reboot.
The problem lies within the printer,
or faulty driver..
or ink cartridge problems.....

the list goes on,
more details are needed.

When it comes to external devices, troubleshooting typically starts the same way...

Have you tried this printer on another computer?
Have you tried another printer on your mom's computer?

If not, you should do so and post back with results.  Does the printer print faster on another computer or is it the same?  If you can get ahold of another printer, does it also print slowly on your mom's computer or is it normal?

Not 100% true. There is a connection between computer, and a printer through a driver.
Then, if the printer's queque gets stuck for some reason, that's also located within a computer, not a printer.
