Is this a virus???
« on: December 15, 2008, 03:14:13 PM »
I am a huge idiot when it comes to computers. My father usually helps me with that kind of stuff but now we live 1000 miles away from each other. I would really appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

When I boot up my computer, everything is fine. When I click on something on my desktop or anywhere else, the computer will flash to a black screen and then back to the regular screen. It is working TONS slower than normal. It will just continue to flash to a black screen and back again and then after a while of being on there it will go to the black screen and just stay there. When it gets to that part, the power button on my screen changes from green (being on) to orange almost like it is in sleep mode. I tried clicking one of the buttons on the screen and it came up with white letters on the black screen that said "computer is in hybernation mode. Push one of the keys on the keyboard or move mouse". I have tried that and that doesn't work. So I eventuall just have to turn off my computer.

I have Norton anti-virus and it runs scans all the time so you would think it would catch it. I ran a full system scan when it started acting up and nothing came up. I also did the defrag thing to it. I am not sure if it a virus or not. Like I said, i am not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers. Someone also told me that it could just be the monitor but I don't think it would do that.

Could be malware but we can't tell without seeing some scan logs.

Post the 3 logs back here when complete.
