This is, what I found out.
1. Simply renaming .mod files to .mpg files, should let you play them.
2. Alternatively, you can download free JVC Everio Utility:
http://wareseeker.com/Video/everio-utility-1.1.zip/295020, which will do that, and more fot you.
This is a program that will do the following:
- Rename the *.MOD files to *.MPG. This is required in order to play the files
in most media players and to author a DVD with most programs.
- Copy files to a location on your computer that you choose.
- Fix the 16:9 aspect ratio problem. If you set your Everio to record in 16:9,
it will record properly, but it writes the files out incorrectly. Most video
players will think it is 4:3 and play it squished. This utility fixes that
problem so that you can play them back at the correct 16:9 aspect ratio and
author a DVD properly using programs other than the one provided in the Everio
box. NOTE: some versions of Windows Media Player will still ignore the fix :-P
