    Only some of the computer seems to be coming on

    recently my computer has started to act strange. Occasionaly when i close my laptop when i try to turn it back on the power comes on but nothing happens. I can turn it on and off but nothing happens. Eventually it will come on after it has sat for a bit but the strange thing is it comes back out of hibernation like I never turned it off. I think something may be loose but i'm not sure. Any ideas?

      sorry about that.
      Dell E1505
      Windows XP
      1.5 gigs of ram
      1.7 ghz pentium dual core
      and the problem is fairly recent.
      my mom and sister did recently accidently knock it on the floor from my bed (about a 1 foot drop) and it was after that when it started doing this.

      It sounds like you've damaged the hardware. Hmmm....

      When did you get it the laptop?

        i got it for christmas in 2006. the newest piece of hardware is that hard drive, which was installed about 3 months ago.

          well i'm gonna check to see if anything is loose. no i just have to figure out how to access the mother board and such...

            good news. it took it apart to see if anything looked loose or broke. Didn't see anything so i put it back together and when i tested the power to see if I put it back together right it booted right back up like nothing ever happened. My guess was that my RAM cards may have been loose, dunno. Well at least i know how to disassemble my laptop now.
