Get read CD drive
« on: February 15, 2009, 11:13:32 PM »
My CD/DVD drive has stopped working. Any application requiring a CD/DVD drive does not work. Some applications say that there is no CD in the drive when there is. In windows explorer, my E drive is not even listed. I use the drive a lot so I replaced the drive with a new one, but the problem remains so I do not think it is the hardware. What can I do?

Find it in Device Manager...right click it and select uninstall.
It will be re-installed on the next re-boot.

If it still does not work you can swap it into another machine to determine if the drive has failed or not...
