« on: March 03, 2009, 10:27:04 AM »
To help maybe create some additional posts outside the original SBBC thread I'm creating this thread to see what everyone's computers benchmark score in PassMark is. Users who don't have their own custom built computer are also welcome to post in this thread.

Impressive got me dominated. :) Would be interesting if you happen to go back to Vista or XP in the future to run it again on the machine to see how much of a difference you get.

XP I will once the Beta stops being supported :)

And I wont be top for very long...Both Patio/Computeruler have quad cores, with 8800GT/a really good x2 Radeon so should produce much higher scores

It took a dump on the CD read/write test...why i don't know.
This was on the new build reviewed by me in Raidmax Smilodon here from a few months back...

This was the x64 bit ver. of Windows 7 so i was impressed...

I'll re-run it lather.

Interesting...it keeps changing. The CD test seems to be dragging the score down.
I'll try on a fresh cold boot.

If you notice your 3D score is higher with a lower 2D score...yes the 4870 is supposed to be better....
It was not available in my price range when i did the build...
It now costs what i paid for the EVGA 8800GTS

BTW the test mis-reported my RAM...

By mis-reporting i mean it cheated me...only recognised 4 out of 6G.
It's also been a good amount of tweaking up to this point.
Windows 7 flies on here but i still run Vista, XP and Win2K as well...

Thanks not bad for my first build..when I get a few minutes I will post a few pictures. I ask that you guys not laugh I have not done anything with the cables and I am probably going to ask for help on that subject. Putting the computer together was easy, getting those cables to do what you want is another story completely! :)

In a strange twist if I pool all my various money storage locations (bank accounts, piggy banks, couch cushions, etc) I could probably buy a really nice computer. with all the latest new stuff. Of course I would then have to subsist on cheap licorice for two weeks. Also- I find it more rewarding to save up and thus have no real impact on my day to day.  :)

and- did I say 172.5?

silly me, I must have inadvertently added the decimal and forgotten the zero! it was really 17250!

*realizes how unbelievable the story is, so tries to add a realistic perspective...*

Also, it was built by polar bears!

To tell the truth I haven't done much research on this stuff and don't know much about what the numbers mean but I managed to get a score for my machine with everything at factory settings - 1642.4
    Is 1255.5 low for 8GB of DDR2 1066 memory?

Well I am usually too scared to blow up the hardware that I couldn't really afford in the first place, but I took a shot at slight overclocking.  The results are a little strange as are the results from the other benchmark program.  Oh and if you were intrigued as to what my other background was, then this one should really pique your interest haha.

Very interesting, thanks for the post Cameron. Unfortunate that a netbook beats your desktop and that XP Pro had a higher rank than Windows 7. Would imagine it's because of the requirements of Windows 7.

I got 1113.1. The CD test is stupid. manly because it's not a CD test but a DVD test unless anyone knows of a CD that has 1 gig of storage space.
Don't worry about it.  If it's not good at stock, then it's not good.
