CoffeeCup HTML Editor
« on: March 04, 2009, 07:25:57 PM »
http://www.coffeecup.com/freestuff/

I've been trying out free HTML editors both online and downloadable versions and think I have settled on the CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor.

It has a lot I haven't figured out yet but so far so good.

Absolutely, but I'm sure you'll find those who'll tear it apart.  I've recommended it here before...with mixed reviews.

To each their own...

I like their software...to be honest.  Like you said:  "It's pretty good for free."

It's definitely has more features than most anything else free. I wish the Visual Editor worked in the free version but it's not that big of a deal.

Yes, me being one of them. ;D

I have used it, but I don't like the fact of the amount of advertising it does and when it automatically inserts a "Built with CoffeeCup Software" (or similar) button or banner at the bottom of your pages. Maybe this has changed, but the version I used did this.

For me, Evrsoft First Page has to be the best.

Pay attention, as Patios signature says. We are talking FREE. I know there are better editors out there if you are buying them.

I don't do a lot of HTML editing myself, but I usually use UltraEdit. Although I don't do as much HTML editing these days- right now I'm learning a new scripting language, BCScript, and yes, I don't even know a language I designed and implemented, so sue me. The entire language itself is essentially undocumented and half the time I have to refer to my source to find out what type of functions I implemented. does NOT bode well for users... so much documentation to write, so little man-power. Man, this company is riding on the efforts of it's two employees, me, and my cat. the cat WAS in charge of the design phase of my last tow projects, which may explain why "moar tuna" kept coming up a a feature request.

huh, I started talking about HTML editing and ended talking about cats putting in feature requests... quite a disparity...

Download it for FREE!

Usually means just that. The download, not the actual use of the software. Sorry if I'm wrong, I just usually stay away from software that doesn't make it clear if it is or isn't free to use or free to try or just free to download.
