Bad sector on Hard Drive
« on: May 04, 2005, 09:25:03 PM »
:-[I had Gateway help me reformat my computer.  I had at the time (2) HD's one the origional 4 gigs and the other a 20 gig.  The 20 had a few sector bad Gateway said so I had to take it our during the format to finish.  I am now asking if this 20 gig HD is totally useless now or can I have it looked at to have it fixed?  It's a shame to waist it.  I feel like my computer is like a Commodore in comparison to when I had the 20 gig also.  what can be done?

False economy to have it fixed, once bad sectors starts to appear more will follow.  If your stored important data on it and it happens to go bad then you will not get your data back.

Hdd are reasonable priced today, so buy a new disk. ;D
