I would use vudofix (google it) to check and fix pc BUT ....

before that, do all the things that imtonsoffun247's link tells you to do and have a malware specialist of this forum help you out first.

jbmwx, please send users to our Malware Removal Guide instead of Google. That's why it's there :) http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

and yes, I would have done that BUT didn't i say to follow the link already posted in the post right above where I posted? Wasn't that the same link you posted too, which is the Malware Removal Guide? I didn't think I needed to repost it anyway .....

No offence but doesn't that mean you didn't need to post in the first place?

looks like jbmwx is easily offended anyway.

I'm sure he'll be back, and somehow I feel he'll manage to use even fewer vowels!

peh. he was one of the short-lived members; or more precisely the persona-changing ones. they post until about 20 or 40 posts, delete their account, create a new one when they stop sobbing, delete it if anybody tries to put them straight, etc..

      It's an endless cycle.

ok, in add/remove programs i found the "Viewpoint Media Player" and "Weather Services", both of which majorgeeks said were malware programs, so should i delete them?

Viewpoint Media Player/Manager/Toolbar is considered as Foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad".

More information: It is suggested to remove the program now.

        ----------

Weather Services is often times installed along with some other software and is considered foistware and sometimes adware. If you don't use it then I suggest uninstalling it. Some of the malware scanners we use might also remove it depending on what the software is. There is good and bad Weather software.

Do you have your XP CD? If so place it in the drive and restart the computer. Choose to do a Repair Install.
