Did you take off the old thermal paste first?

      Are you overclocking your CPU?

Does the fan on top of the heatsink spin?

Are all of you case fans blowing in the same direction?

Try to blow away the inside of your CPU from dust.

You need a bigger heatsink then.

50 is OK, 90 is way too hot.

              That's OK

In the BIOS, your processor is basically simulating full load.
Me and Calum had a short conversation about it not so long ago, and it really mans 50 degrees is the highest it will get.

Are you adding them up? IE using 50 as a base, then in windows when you put it on load adding the difference to 50?

              Calum

Not full load ... just not halted.
Seems to simulate around half load, to me, but results may vary.
Pentium D CPUs do run extremely hot, but 90C is excessive.
We'll need clarification on a few points, as requested above, and I don't want to clutter, just adding my thoughts.

I still say that a larger heatsink would help if you tried everything else.

maybe the heatsink is not secured to the cpu correctly, that and the fact ya could also be using way too much thermal compound.

That could be true.  I had a supposed realtive who had a broke clip connector on his and it wouldnt start up cause it wasnt on right.
