What is A+ Certification, what does it mean, what is special when you have it (or don't)?

Never argue with a stupid person, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Is a special test that is given by Comptia, it shows that you have a basic understanding of the working of computer hardware.  Its shows employers that you have a good understand and likely get the job over someone who doesnt have a degree.

so A+ certification is like the computer guy's version of the pharmacy tech certification?

A+ certification is more like the equivalent of a kindergarten diploma.

That's kind of the same feeling I've been getting from watching some free training videos........ I might still try for the certification because I would get certification pay for it.

While A+ reflects basic computer knowledge, the amount of minutae which one is potentially required to know in order to pass the test puts it beyond comparing it to the basic skills which are taught in kindergarten.

I forced to agree that A+ Cert. is no match for extensive experience, but like you said, you'll get Certification PAY ;D, and you'll have more opportunities when marketing yourself

You're probably not gonna get paid as much as a certified M$ tech but at least, you're gonna get something that's better than nothing.

I've actually got sort of a plan that I'm following.  First I want to focus on multiplying my options. By having an AAS degree already and adding to that an A+ Cert. (soon) I'm sure I won't have too much difficulting finding a job......ONce I find a job, I'm focusing on simply getting more experience....I need to get my experience caught up with my paper, if you catch my drift....Once I get a good deal of experience, I'll probably go for one of those fancy M$ Certifications. ;D

shoot, hanging around here certainly helps with experience, but I'm not sure what kind of weight forum experience will hold with an employer

I am wondering, why did they call this exam an "A+" exam? Sure sounds good but .... I know there's that A+ programming language which is not really related to the exam ....

I didn't know there was an A+ programming language :)

however, I can't wait to get through all this reviewing because I want to get into some programming myself.....I'd like to learn C++.  I downloaded Microsoft Visual C++, but it looks like I'll be teaching myself to start off, because I wont be able to register for any classes any time soon

Its a pain to learn plus its outdated, java is stronger then that and its some what easier to understand.
