Trying to format hard drive and insrtall xp but when power computer up window 98 starts then goes to start up menu -command prompt only -it then detects a re/config error and tells me to run scanreg.
finds files corrupted c:\windows\Dbluff.sys
c\windows\ifshlp.sys

Slokesville:

Those are both DOS drivers which are probably left over from a previous DOS or Windows 95 installation:

I'm guessing the Windows 98 was an upgrade from Windows 95.  Please tell me: Is the Windows XP CD an upgrade or a full version?
