* My computer at home will no longer boot up.
* It had been slowing down a lot lately, taking 10+ minutes to boot, but running OK once it was up.
* Now, it just comes up to the first screen during the boot up process and quits.
* It's a 2 year old "Median" computer with Windows XP home.
* Is this a hardware problem or a software problem?

1. DSL/cable OR dial-up internet connection?
2. XP-Home with SP2?
3. Anti-virus with latest updates?
4. Software firewall?
5. Anti-Spyware program?
Could be hardware, could be software. Depends what you mean by "...it just comes up to the first screen during the boot up process and quits..."
6. Explain "1st screen", explain "quits".
