Wireless Mouse HELP - Please

I just got a Targus wireless mouse - my first wireless and I am utterly confused.  How do you know that it's fully charged?

There is a red indicator light on the USB receiver that has been glowing red since I plugged it into the cmputer.  The mouse has worked right out of the box once I synced it with mouse but plugged it into a USB port to charge.
The manual says 8 hours and it's been 11 and the light is still red on the receiver.

Nlow.. it doesn't say anywhere in the manual what that means so I am assuming that it changes to green? when the mouse is full charged.  For all I know it just glows red b/c it's plugged in and will always be like that.  I don't know, that's why I am asking.

Since it worked immediately before I even went to charge it I can't tell if it's charged fully or not.  Does the red light turn green on Targus mice?
I am freaking out b/c I want to be able to shut my laptop down - it's been running on high performance w/ no sleep and no hibernation for a continous charge for hours now.

Anyone have Targus mice?  How do I know it's charged and how do I know it' needs charging?
