A *torrent...sounds like if it isn't already, it will probably be illegal in the future.

Torrent will never be illegal, because it's one of the methods of sharing files, legal files for that matter.

"Torrent" is just a method of sharing files. wether that technology is used illegally is another matter.

Technically if torrents were outlawed, they would have to outlaw HTTP and FTP transfers too.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

I know that torrents are files for sharing, but because of their prominent use in pirating, the first thing that comes to mind when I see the word torrents is pirating.

Torrents by themselves are not illegal and the ability of a streaming torrent is a promising technology. However, watching a movie channel such as HBO would be considered illegal since it's copyrighted material and you're getting it freely.

Yeah... but when I see/hear the word torrents, pirating is the first thing that pops up is pirating, as explained in my previous post.
