Help ! New Graphic Card but no display !!
    « on: June 18, 2009, 11:30:15 PM »
I have got this Zebronics FX 5500 AGP 8x card
It plugs into my motherboard pretty smoothly, I connected my monitor into video card and so far so good.
Now once I switch on, it seems to detect the new hardware and therefore it displays the Nvidia corporation and memory size of the card while booting and then appears our regular boot screen and then the microsoft windows.
Problem starts now , coz once the loading of windows is done , the display on monitor simply freezes.. no display and only the dead monitor with its power switch blinking but my computer(cpu) seems to run perfectly.
And again When I remove the video card everything seems OK !

Please help me on this issue..

Why would you use this card?

I'm not a hardcore gamer nor I'm interested in buying a new motherboard simply coz I have no money and my configuration is reasonably good

To be fair why not upgrade to an NVidia or something? In my humble opinion I believe you need to upgrade to a mainstream graphics card. There is very little to no help on the web for your card. That must tell you something.

A video card is not dual or quad?? That's a processor. I think you may be confused. But your video card is not wildly known in the computing circles.

Reseat your video card, try a different slot if you can,  remove and reseat memory,  see if you can update the Nvidia drivers from their website...check your bios to see if video is configured correctly, check all connections.

Hi! Does your board have a graphics chip set?  If so don't use that card!.... :-\
It's not how much you know, It's how little you talk about it.

The FX 5500 is an nVidia graphics chip.  ::)  However, Zebronics seems to be an obscure brand for video cards; I've never heard of it before.

You can ignore this advice.  Any video card with an FX 5500 and 128MB or more memory should out-perform onboard video on his motherboard.

I know that when I didnt do that on my one machine it would boot off the on board then go to the card.  I ment if his bios had it to set it correctly, mine has that feature for some reason.

Hold on ... let me get this staight...

The PC will start up and the driver version shows up at BIOS start so the card is working fine right now. And when the windows icon comes up , for loading , (little blue scroller for XP) it runs fine now right after tat part it stops working?

are your system specs up to the job?
                                 Do you have enough RAM?
                                Overheat on the Card?
                                Hard Disc damage ?

Itseems that the hard disc may be faulty if everything else is in order (sytem specs , heat). I thik that if you have bashed your PC around or subjected it to high static that you might have broken the hard disc. You might end up having to buy a new Hard disc and operating system if that is the case.

mabybe there is an incompatability with your computer's software and hardware? If you run some ancient tech now (windows ME or lower probably) then something might not like it.

Have you change d anthing else since installing the card or before installation that you would consider sigificant? Any unexpected slowdowns, shutdowns ?

Have you perhaps ran ovr your PC with a steamroller? :)

It could be that Windows is trying to run your new card on the old video drivers.
Remove the old drivers (save them first if you don't have them on a disk) then re-boot with the new card and install the new drivers.
You could also try booting with the new card in safe mode as a test first.
