      Keller......Usually a laptop hard drive is a differant form factor ........ 2.5 serries as oppossed to 3.5serries for a desktop.

        With the correct tools and attributes it is possible to connect a 2.5" Laptop HDD to a Desktop mainboard.

        See this article for more information.

        Another type of Hard Disk Drive that could be connected to both Desktops and Laptops would be an [External] USB Hard Disk Drive.
