IE8 won't open with add-ons

My computer just updated to IE8 2 days ago) and it won't open with any add-ons. I have an HP Pavillion Vista 2048MB9memory 300GBhard drive  E4300IntelCore2Duo Processor. I use AVG and run it daily. I've tried checking everything I can think of. I'm not that computer literate, but can do the basics. The latest service pack was just downloaded as well. Everything is up to date. I'm lost as to what to do. Thinking about trying a different browser.

1. since IE8 is not working with addons enabled, try running ie8 with addons disabled ... see following link for some help on that ... http://www.nirmaltv.com/2009/04/28/how-to-run-ie8-without-add-ons/

2. also, I recommend you use firefox if you want to use a different browser, it's a good browser which is not difficult to make the transition to seeing as you were on IE before ... (I use it as my default browser), been updated yesterday .. download here and check out all the features . http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html
