    New mobo not working?
    « on: July 04, 2009, 03:36:37 PM »
Ok I have bought a new motherboard 2 days ago and it is booting to screen and so on , it is working generally BUT there are some problems with it...

    Heres the board:

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2691

    Its a Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H

I have 3 problems with the new mobo:

    1) The Audio : The audio isnt working at all , my speakers are on and i have tried both jacks with no outcome. One of the drivers were installed successfully but the other was not... I cannot play system sounds or CD DVD sound

    2) The CPU FAN : The cpu fan is running at highest speed and does not slow down much at all... The CPU temp peaks at 60 degrees celsius but the fan still runs at highest speed... I have looked at the bios but there are not many settings i can change which will help , I have tried setting to optimal settings but to no avail... BUT the cpu fan does slow down when i run a program called icool from gigabyte , the proggram shows how the computer runs at various speeds but the cpu fan only slows when it starts up... If i could see the coding of the program it may help but i doubt that i will :)

    3) The Internet :) : I cannot connect to my router to access the internet even though the installation CD says that all the drivers were updated successfully...

According to the CD included with the mobo all the drivers were installed succesfully however the audio on the motherboard is still prompting errors with the new hardware wizard...

      Congrats on the new mobo!
Go here to make sure you have the latest drivers installed:
      http://www.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=2691

Once you've done that, reboot and see how everything works.

Start over and install the MBoard chipset drivers FIRST...some drivers are reliant on them being installed first for them to install properly.

ok when i try to install the audio driver i get an error message saying :

"Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure!!

            [Error Code : 0xE0000227]"

NO I don't know what it means by this message...

patio : What do you mean? Do you mean dont install the drivers that XP tries to install but install the drivers on the disk first? How do I uninstall my current drivers properly?

            Use the CD...
Don't bother uninstalling them...install over the top.
            This won't harm anything.

This isnt helping anything ... I have tried what you said patio  and nothing has changed

I have however , noticed that when i go into control panel > sound and audio devices > hardware and select my device from the list , "audio device on high definition audio bus" is "not configured properly" which means that it IS recognised and might work but it is possibly not set up correctly , or needs new drivers ... that narrows it down a little...

              Gotcha...
My test was still worthwhile though.
Does the Audio Device have a Control Panel of it's own ? ?

It may be in Control Panel itself...or may be a Tray icon...
