Best Buy lists well-equipped Acer laptop for $299

Best Buy has listed a 15-inch Acer laptop with relatively robust specifications for $299. But try getting your hands on one.

Though listed among the "new arrivals" on Best Buy's Web site, it is currently not available at stores or online. But there is anecdotal evidence of its existence. Very-recent user comments indicate that people have purchased the laptop and other stores, such as Wal-Mart Stores and Amazon (which shows it in stock), list it at a higher price.

An AMD Athlon 64 processor, 15.6-inch WXGA display, 2GB DDR2 memory, DVD-RW drive, 160GB hard disk drive, ATI Radeon Xpress 1200 graphics, 802.11b/g wireless, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, and Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. Pretty close to mainstream-laptop hardware with the exception of the low-end AMD-ATI silicon and the older "g" wireless.

Best Buy has a very good "Rain Check" policy. If you have an advertisement from them and go to buy in the said amount of time, even if they dont have it they will give you a rain check for that product at that price whenever it becomes available!! Even if the sale is over.

Nice, wish I had one of those in Utah. Girlfriend wants one and we went to bust buy and the sales man claimed it was an online only deal, but just don't think he knew what he was talking about.

Pretty cheap! If only I could find one that cheap that could play games  :rofl:
I wish I had a microcenter too.  With their $200 i7s and stuff.

Online store still says it's in store pickup. So probably could order online but would still need to go to the store to pick it up. Ohh well they're will be plenty of other deals in the future. :)

Don't see an option for color so don't believe you can specify color. But I'll ask my her if that may be something she's interested in. Would think the shipping would be pretty expensive.
