Mac Vs. PC
« on: July 23, 2009, 08:44:31 PM »
Hi,

I have to do a persuasive essay for school on Mac Vs. PC.
So I have to try to persuade people the PC's are better then Macs.

I was wondering if you guys knew of any good references/resources I could use for information. Like books, ebooks, videos, magazine articles, encyclopedias (my teacher lets me use Wikipedia although most don't) ? If you have anything that'll help me with my essay feel free to shout it out...

Spend a lot of time on Google or whichever search engine that you prefer, we won't do you're homework for you.

There are loads of articles online, just remember that most of those articles are swayed by opinion and the fact that magazines pander to advertising.

Didn't ask you to, was just wondering if you've any really great books or anything you'd recommend. I didn't ask you search the whole web or anything.

I looked, most of them are complete trash...

That's the biggest problem with most of that stuff.  They print trash because it pleases the advertisers.

Does your teacher want you to provide citation, or is opinion strong enough, even if it's opinion from other users?

Yes, he wants some citation and to reference some material. But I only "some".
So I can put lots of opinion in the rest of it.

That's one *censored* of a subject to need citation on that won't wind up being someones opinion.

You could always take some information directly from Mac and any one of the PC manufacturers.  Stick to what they call the facts and then interpolate it on your own.

Why do you have a Windows? Was it because it was cheaper than a Mac? Was it because you like the interface better? Maybe you want to watch a Mac or a PC ad anad then go from there?

Ads are probably the worst way to get this type of unbiassed information...

honestly, it seems kind of silly to go in with the idea that "PCs are better then macs" because your essay itself will be biased; you have to focus on facts, not marketing crap that is designed to sway people in one direction or another.

What I suggest, is learn about the history of PCs in general, including Mac computers; although it's a bit biased itself (to the mac side, it seems) I suggest watching "pirates of the silicon valley" If not for facts but for some insight into the two architectures (or more precisely, the figureheads behind each and their corresponding design goals).

Perhaps make a list of Pros and Cons; nobody can deny that the mac has some pluses itself, (namely, in the beginning it adopted SCSI with open arms, the creation of the Apple Data Bus (LONG before any "standardized" connectors on PC, save Serial Ports which need a *censored*-load of configuration),

perhaps weigh competing models of Apple and PC hardware.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

done this. You can get a a laptop PC for $800 while a similar Macbook costs $1,100.
I'm using this to persuade the reader that Pc are better because of price.

Ok I will write it for you

Macs vs Pcs
By: Cityscape

Pcs are superior in almost every single way then macs.  There is no point in writing a long essay about this because theres nothing else to say.  Pcs are the best, macs suck, and steve jobs is gay. The day apple makes something that doesnt suck is the day they start making vacuum cleaners.  The end.
