iTouch FROZEN
« on: August 02, 2009, 12:34:05 PM »
Hey guys! Bad news...I tried to start a gun sound effect app and it seemed to load properly. I changed the sensitivity and sound effect, then pressed start. Nothing happened and I noticed the usual ad wasn't there. Realising it froze, I pressed the awake button (or whatever it's called) and now it just shows a grey screen. I only bought this a week ago, so if my mom finds out, she'll freak!

Please help!

Can you attach it to your computer and run recovery?

I would have to connect it to my mom's laptop (the original computer it connected to)...

But even now, after hours, it is still grey. I put it on my dock, hoping that if I turn the dock on and off the ipod would follow suit as it normally would. It didn't. :-\

You need to try a recovery on your mums laptop.

You need to try a recovery on your mums laptop.

Actually, it may not even need the recovery.

Try simply rebooting the iPod.  To do this all you have to do is hold the power button at the top of the iPod and hold the home button at the bottom.  Hold them for 10-15 seconds and you should see the iPod reboot.

Isn't an iTouch a form of iPod -- heck, I don't know.

There should be, as with PDA's and many other handheld devices, a way to reboot it, as Socrates suggests.  It may, or may not, clear the memory, but at least it would be working again.

You can restore through itunes.

It's not an ipod!

I've heard multiple userse call iPod Touch's "iTouch"

I assumed this is the case.  I don't see a single thing here that leads me to believe this is not an apple ipod touch.  Furthermore, why post it in the apple forum if it's some knockoff?

Thank you, Mr. Oilfield!  Let's see what the original poster is able to do.

Technically, iTouch isn't even the name of a product that apple makes, nor is an ishuffle.

By the way- and iPod Touch is in fact, an iPod.

That is correct. An iTouch is an iPod Touch.

Anyway, it wouldn't show up in iTunes until I rebooted in recovery mode...but now it works! Thanks for all your help. If you want to continue arguing whether the iPod Touch can be called an iTouch.
