My monitor displays no signal when I turn it on
    « on: August 22, 2009, 06:27:55 PM »
I have Window XP and when I start up the computer the monitor shows no signal.  I do have a dedicated video card. Where should I star?

Did this just start? If so, try the display on a different system to rule out a bad display.

I tried multiple monitors.  I have an HP dual core with 2G RAM I tried to press F8 when I turned on the comp, but nothing showed on screen.  I read a post that the Vid card might be bad so I removed it.  The monitor worked until I shut down my comp, nothing again. No Signal

Do not press F8, start tapping F8 key at HP logo.

Did you enable on-board video in BIOS?

Thats not possible in all monitors, check the cable for broken or missing pins.
Windows 7 RC Tester.  Working on it.  Your monitor says etchasketch on the side!

What's not possible? Swapping out the cable?

I haven't seen any monitor that has fixed cables.

Maybe a little but not a lot; we're still talking about monitors.   ::)
