Hi y`all.,
I do have a vary nasty and extreem difficult problem concerning activating and using and connecting of my floppy drives.
So please read my problem carefully to prevent unnessesary answers !
The problem is;
My OS.= win98se fully opgraded.
I have a desktop with one floppy disk drive type HD,also is there a possebility for connecting a DD drive too.
The flatcable is provided with extra connectors for several bus systems
such as EDGE (old) connector and new a flat pin connector (normal).
A set of connectors are fitted before and after the crossing in the flatcable.
The bios is set for A & B drive is DD and HD.
The HD floppy drive has no jumpers but the DD has,they are set to B.
The DD floppy drive is after the flatcable crossing is the A: and the HD is before the flatcable crossing is the B:.
In reverse tried too but if they are together connected as described above there is during opstart always the error "Floppy error 40",
ofcourse with every try or combination the bios is
always set/adjusted accordingly.
The only exception is that every floppy drive if separatly connected (only one=single) then they must be only connected with the connector AFTER the flatcable crossing,only then they are working perfectly ! Without the floppy error.
If the drives are separately connected to only the connector BEFORE the flatcable crossing then they do`nt work,also all kind of combinations have been tried but no succes.
All the connectors are mounted on the same side of the flat cable.
If both the floppy drives are connected ;
A: =after the cable crossing,
B: =before the cable crossing,
If mounted so they both are working perfectly but after starting up the desktop after mem cheq always comde the message "Floppy Error" after pressing "F!" the start will continu and the software on the A: drive is then started.
Copying from A: to B: or reverse is ok !
Only if on connector after crossing is only one drive then there is no "Floppy Error".
So why this "Floppy error 40" and still working oke ??
Any ideas please ?
Thanks ! !
