What is the make/model of your computer and how old is it?  Are you using a video card or onboard video?

Do you have another monitor you can try, temporarily?

If another monitor works then your current monitor is probably bad.  If another monitor doesn't work then we've isolated the problem to your computer.

Assuming you are running XP (It says so in your profile to the left)

Instead of picking Safe Mode from the advanced startup menu (the F8 menu), Pick VGA mode, this will load your graphics drivers in forced 640x480 mode and also force the default monitor ON.

Then shutdown, and reboot, you will still be in 640x480 and on the default monitor, but you can bring the resolution back up to your preferred setting and then it will stay that way :)

    Goodluck!

      1.  What is "the default thing"?
      2.  "in the settings".  What settings?

i got a hp pavilon 522n it should be like 4 or more years old, i think i'm using an onboard video. to get there i right clicked on the desktop and went to properties then i clicked on the settings tab and i went to the spot above the resolution size and i had 2 options 1. default settings (in use) and 2. none and i accidentally pressed none then i think the computer restarted and the screen went black but i see the loading screen like windows xp home and it got the loading bar but after that the screen is black

        1)  i got a hp pavilon 522n
        2)  i think i'm using an onboard video.
        3)   had 2 options 1. default settings (in use) and 2. none and i accidentally pressed none then i think the computer restarted and the screen went black but i see the loading screen like windows xp home and it got the loading bar but after that the screen is black...
        1) hp pavilon 522n
        2) Yes.
        3) I don't think you would not get those two options unless you have another graphics card installed.  In any event, you must do a Repair Install.  Power down the computer and as soon as you depress the power button, keep tapping the F10 key.  You're trying to get to Setup and do a repair.  Being this is an HP, you probably don't have any Windows CD's.

if you can view the BIOS and the F8 start menu, I would say that Windows is at fault. Whether it be a driver issue or not im not 100% sure, but it sure sounds like it. is there a PCI/AGP/PCI-e card you could put in to get into windows?

Rather than trying to press the F keys to get into BIOS try tapping the DEL key instead.
It's a long shot but is the only way I can get into BIOS on my friends desktop with XP.

I did something and it said that the BIOS is shadowed I guess that's why I can't do nothing but I dont know how to enable BIOS

Having the BIOS shadowed or not will not change this problem.

However you have proven you can indeed see the POST and obviously the windows XP boot screen?

on the back of your computer, are there more than one monitor ports? either VGA, or DVI?

            DVI

            VGA

If there is another of either of these ports, try your monitor in one of those, if they fit.
