    COMPUTER NOT STARTING!!

     i have a gateway laptop- windows vista- Nothing shows on the monitor when I press the power button the lights show up on the device like it normally would, but nothing shows. I've tried taking the battery in & out unplugging & plugging in the computer cord nothing seems to work! PLEASE HELP ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Is it a blue screen or a black screen?
      And does it beep when you turn it on?

            Unplug the power, remove the battery and then hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. Then reattach the power and attempt a boot.

              Can you get into the BIOS?
              Is there anything on the display if you connect an external monitor?

                          To get to it

                           Delete: AMI or Award BIOS.
                             Esc: Toshiba
                             F1: Toshiba; Phoenix; some IBM PS/1 models.
                             F10: Compaq.
                             F2: NEC.
                             Insert: IBM PS/2.
                             Tab: eMachines.
                             Reset button (press twice): Some old Dells.
                             Ctrl-Alt-+: Various computers.
                             Ctrl-Alt-?: Some old IBM PS/2 models.
                             Ctrl-Alt-Enter: Some Dells, others.
                             Ctrl-Alt-Esc: AST, Tandon, others.
                             Ctrl-Alt-Ins: Zenith PCs, Phoenix BIOS.
                             Ctrl-Alt-S: Phoenix BIOS.
                             Ctrl-Alt-Shift with Del (on number pad): Olivetti.
                             Ctrl-Esc: Many PCs.

                            Have you tried hooking a monitor up to it to see if it's just your screen on your laptop?
