IE8 doesn't remember password
« on: December 15, 2009, 07:24:16 PM »
This has probably been asked dozens of times, but here's mine  :P

IE8 doesn't prompt me or ask me if I want to save any passwords ever...

I've gone through the steps here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306895

But when I try step 3 it fails and says:

LocalLibrary("RSABase.dll") failed - The specified module cannot be found

I've googled the error, but I get squat!

 :(

Try to just google "RSABase.dll". I found a ton of stuff on that (but I'm pretty much blocked from any site but this one for some reason by my IT).

Yah, I do use Firefox generally....  But when I get sick of seeing the message "server not found", which happens frequently on various machines, I'll switch back over to IE... But then because auto-complete/cookies have me spoiled I'll get tired of typing my password to access Computer Hope and then switch back to Firefox..And on and on it goes..  Firefox seems to run better on my 64bit Windows Vista, which makes sense.   Less "server not found" messages are coming up

I don't know if you've noticed but a lot of people are seeing the message "server not found" frequently when using Firefox..  At first I thought there was just a problem with the machine I was using, but then noticed that on my other machines it happens. I was at the electronics recycling center yesterday and they were using firefox to access the the company database and the first time they tried, they got the message, "server not found"...   When I use my mom's computer at her house, I have the same problem, also..   A friend of mine switched over to IE because he was having problems sending eMail using Firefox..

Usually if you click on "resend" to works, but it gets old.

With respect to IE... I don't know what the deal is here..  On my XP machine and on my Vista machine, I'm never prompted by IE on whether I want to save my password for the site...  I never noticed this problem before, but now I'm noticing it on both my machines and can't get it fixed... Even on a fresh install of windows XP, it doesn't fix the problem...

Ultimately, I'd like to know what's causing this, so when I tend to people having the same problem, who prefer using IE, I'll be able to help them..

Yes, I have that problem too. sometimes I lose the connection and I have to close my browser's. Then where's Internet Explorer I can bring it up to its home page, which is on Yahoo, and it usually does a fair job of finding the proxy. This system I have from AT&T has some sort of proxy thing that Internet Explorer finds automatically. In Firefox, I don't think there is anything in there that do you can set so that you'll find the proper proxy. But it seems to me that once Internet explorer has found the proxy, then Firefox will pick it up.
I am only talking about appearance. I have not read he tries to analyze it with a network ana. But anyway, I have all my passwords and user names saved in a type of the macro key program. Since I'm such a klutz at the keyboard, it is easier for me to just use a keyboard macro program that loads up when I start up my computer. So, even if the browser does not remember my password, I still have it saved in the macro keys. Yeah, I'm lazy to, but for a different reason. I have to strain my neck to look at the keyboard because of my poor eyesight. So I can more or less hit the macro keys without staring hard at the keyboard.
    Is this too much information?

the only time I get "server not found" is when it cannot find the server. this is usually when my connection cuts or or something.

Never had it occur for no good reason though. Probably an add-on of some sort causing this.

anyway, here's another thread about the whole autocomplete thing elsewhere:

    http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-internetexplorer-general/461096-autocomplete-not-working-ie8-xp-pro-sp3.html

the responses have a lot of things to try.

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
